Heading into this game from last week’s dominating 7-0 victory against Revolution, DBFC came against a J Leaguers side competing with DBFC nearer the top of the Legal League table. It took a while for the game to have its first goal, but once Crommy’s pass connected to Ethan, the English R9 broke the deadlock with a cheeky dink over the opposition’s helpless goalkeeper, and the floodgates opened. From this moment onwards, the balance of the match started to sway in DBFC’s favour. Any attacking threat from the J Leaguers was quickly swept up by Morse and his backline, with crucial clearances and stability at the back. On the left, Leo continued his Man of the Match game from last week into another Maldini-esque performance that the J Leaguers’ right wing could never overcome, notably switching their right winger several times to try and counteract Leo. In goal, Travis, after not playing last week’s fixture, comes back into the starting eleven and keeps a clean sheet. Winning every aerial battle and holding superiority in the box, he deservedly earned the Man of the Match award at the post-game celebrations.

The first half ended 1-0, and whatever was said in the half-time team talk helped DBFC step up their output in the second half. It didn’t take long for Ethan to score his second, a beautiful moment of skill that sent the opponent back to Japan, capped off with a thunderbolt finish right in the top corner. Coming off the bench, Charlie “Darting Runs” Higgins assists Ethan for his third, a pinpoint cross met by a precise header, practised by the duo a countless amount of times in training sessions. With 7 goals in the last 2 games, Ethan is in scintillating form. The fourth and final goal comes from supersub Enzo, with a low-range effort slotted finely into the near post. If the game was ever in doubt at that point, Enzo capped off a dominating DBFC performance.

Next week, DBFC will play Corinthians, which by looking at the league table, should be a much easier foe, however, 11 goals and 2 clean sheets for DBFC out of the last two fixtures should put them in a good position for the next game.
