DBFC 1 : 2 Spartans

Team: Yanou (GK), Ben (RB) David & Jack (CB), Morse (LB), Jordon (LW) Jordan and Pascal (CM), Danny Loup (RW), Danny Lye (AM) and Scotty H up front. On the bench was Simon who was back after a long holiday and Dan Keenan who was 5 minutes late after a traffic accident on the Tung Chung Road.
With Gaz away on holiday, the injured duo of Riggers and Kieran D took up management duties.
DBFC started by far stronger and the whole game was in the Spartans half. A long through resulted in the first goal when Scotty got his foot on to the dropping ball. We could have been two or three goals up, with JB hitting the post from six yards and on another chance going for the near post instead of across the keeper. Scotty Holmes had another chance hit straight at the keeper and Danny Lye fluffed a few.
Just before half time, DBFC got done by the old “sucker punch”. Spartans played the ball down our left to their player, who latched onto it and made a quick opportunistic cross that went just over Jack’s head onto the head of the Spartans’ striker (who wasn’t covered by the extremely hungover Ben lagging twenty yards behind) to put the ball in the DBFC net for the equalizer.
Half time team talk focused on keeping it up as we were the better team.
Second half didn’t start well with Spartans in control. Spartans missed two one on ones before going ahead from a set piece. A free kick into the box landed at the feet of a Spartans striker who scorer with a low drive to the near post of the DBFC goal from the edge of the box.
DBFC pushed for an equalizer and had one or two chances and the final chance in the last seconds of the game was Danny Loup just failing to get on the end of a good cross.
This was a disappointing day for DBFC, who aren’t making the season run-in any easier.
MOM: Pascal ran a lot and showed Ben how to deal with a hangover.
DOD: David was awful at CB.
