DBFC took on a young KCC Cavaliers side in the Semi-Finals of the Cup. A strong turn-out gave Coach Gazza plenty of options to choose from and some much-needed legs to come off the bench later in the game. With the warm-up and team talk done (including some strict orders for Crommy not to take any free kicks) the game kicked off with DBFC on top from the start.

Despite the early spells of possession, the team found it hard to breakdown KCC’s defence on Aberdeen’s small pitch. After some wasted chances and poor set pieces, the quick KCC forwards started to come into the game and win a few dangerous free-kicks. Luckily, Hong Kong E-sports legend Ricky was on hand to spectacularly save on one or two occasions. On the stroke of halftime, substitute Krishna found some space on the edge of the box and neatly tucked the ball into the bottom corner giving DBFC a deserved lead to take into the break.

DBFC carried the momentum going into the second half with Tita and Riggers leading from the back and the midfield controlling the tempo. Eventually, Ethan found some space up front and played a through-ball to Awal who brilliantly beat the last man and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper. DB didn’t look back and wrapped up the game in dominant fashion, setting up an eagerly-anticipated final against Wanchai Spartans next Saturday.

MOM: Ricky – Great performance and best dressed at the Pier Bar.

DOD: Zoeller – Full kit with sun glasses on in the Team Photo.
