Squad: Ricky(GK), Christian, David, Morse, Bryn, Scotty, Charlie, Danny H, Rob Grady, Jamie, Kafi, Josh, Will, Matt Z and Matt H

Scorers: Charlie and Matt H

MOM: A number of shouts for some excellent performances but the game changer was the introduction of the two Matt’s at half time and the pick is Matt Hoare who got the second and winning goal.

DBFC had a good strong team for this match and the presence of the legend during his own lunchtime, Matt the Zoeller, sporting a Mexican bandit style moustache for the Movember Foundation, was an added bonus. Bants are a physical, defending and well organised team, so Manager Morse new it would need a battling effort from his men. The first half was pretty even with only half chances at each end, DBFC defending in numbers at times to ensure they didn’t go behind, and the first half finished 0-0. Matt Hoare arrived late but was changed and ready for the second half and was introduced along with Zol at centre-mid and forward, respectively. DBFC sprung into life from second half kick-off and the first 25 minutes saw some very good passing football at high tempo, to dominate the game. Reward came from the boot of young Charlie Higgins who found the corner of the net with a low controlled drive into the corner after the ball came to him from two or three blocks by the Bants keeper. Despite the continued dominance and a bag full of chances from DBFC for a second goal, to kill the game, just would not come. The second half saw Bants defend deep and just launch the ball forward for their 2 attackers but DBFC back line held firm until 5 minutes from the end when Bants got a break and a good header from a good cross. Shouts of keep calm and keep playing our football came from Captain Romano and that’s what happened with our football and within two minutes it resulted with a goal from Matt H. A long cross from the right past the far post was headed back across the goal by Christian for Matt H to bravely head in at the near post. That’s how it finished with DBFC triumphing at 2 – 1.
