We were short on numbers for our regular fixture against the pros and ex-pros affiliated with South China F.C but thanks to Kieran coercing some of his subordinates from the Immigration Services, we managed to end up with a large squad that included a number of younger players. We had no obvious CF for the fixture and looked to the versatile Patric to do a job despite him having made his debut for Gazelles the night before and enjoyed some post-match hospitality. We opted therefore for a 4-5-1 with Simon T, Neil M and Bangkok returnee Pascal making up a 3 man central midfield; with Steve hoping that starting with a young CB Thom would help to protect against their quick CF.

All went to plan for the first third and we kept a good shape but without threatening much going forward. Newley pulled off a couple of fine saves to keep us in the game but Fei Yeung eventually went ahead after a shot rebounded off Newley and we failed to clear. We made 5 changes for the second third with all our subs coming on for Kieran, Mike, Thom, Patric and Simon. Fei Yeung started to up the tempo and immediately their CF went past John on the outside and shot past Newley to make it 2-0. Their third goal pretty much killed the game as a contest but we kept working hard. We made another 5 changes at the second break and the opposition brought on their older players. The final third of the game ended up being relatively even. Any thoughts of a comeback faded after a low cross from LW along the six yard box was deflected for an OG by John.

However we got a well earned consolation goal towards the end after Patric floated a corner that was met by Anago with an unchallenged header. All in all it was a decent performance against as ever a good side that had a number of players still playing pro football.
