DBFC 45s 4-0 Godfathers

This was the first league game of the delayed 2023 season for the 45s and a rare run-out on grass in the unfamiliar surroundings of the Disciplined Services Sports and Recreation Club in Causeway Bay. With Hymsey and Resco running late, we started with a new look 4-4-1-1 with Ricky starting as a 10 behind Fouad. Godfathers came out of the blocks with their customary vigour, always looking for CF Jonny White, their key 40-45 player. Their key moments in the 1st half came from his repeated attempts to lob Newley from near the half way line. Meanwhile Fouad was looking a real threat up front for us and causing panic in the Godfathers defence, with energetic support from Ricky. Godfathers GK pulled off a couple of great saves but eventually Fouad and Ricky found the net with two well struck shots towards the end of the half. Godfathers came close just before HT but Morse headed acrobatically off the line. In the 2nd half the game opened up and we took control with a very measured performance in all areas of the pitch. Fouad scored from close range mid way through to put the game out of reach and Adam sealed the win with an excellent strike coming in off the left wing. A good evening’s work by everyone, with everyone managing to get at least two thirds of a game.
