DBFC Vets Tour team makes the 7s final in Bangkok

Over the Easter weekend (20 and 21 April 2019) DBFC Vets sent a team to participate in the over 35s 7-a-side competition of the “German All Stars International Far Eastern Tournament” in Bangkok.

DBFC had a decent size squad to start but injuries from on and off the pitch took its toll and on Sunday morning they competed with the bare 7 players.

Saturday saw the team qualify for the cup competition by finishing 2nd in their group, behind the only team to beat them (convincingly 3-0).

Sunday morning quarter final went as planned with a win but at the cost of an injury to Pedro so the semi-final was with bare 7 players. The team parked the bus making sure not to concede a goal and went to penalties, which was won by DBFC, courtesy of the last penalty taken by goalkeeper Stefan.

The final was against the team that had finished top of DBFC’s group on Saturday (beating them 3-0). So with Riggers turning up and another late recruitment to the squad numbers looked healthy for the final. Unfortunately, and despite a very good competitive performance by the boys they went down 2-1.

So runners up in the over 35s 7-a-side competition was a great achievement and the team went on to celebrate in town that evening with the same enthusiasm as if they had won.

Congratulations DBFC tour team.
