We are pleased to announce that the 6th Edition of the HLG Kart Race is going to take place on Saturday 16th March 2019 (9am to 5pm)
Calling all 7-12 year old RACERS to join in the standard category where you race against your peers for the chance to come 1st, 2nd or 3rd and take home a HUGE trophy… (karts are provided by HLG)
AND
If you are brave enough, calling all 7-99 year old RACERS to race in your own kart which you will need to build with your own bare hands and race in the Freestyle category… where your fate becomes a reality and you can get some practice before becoming the next Formula 1 Driver with all your dreams coming true and winning a trophy for either the Fastest Freestyler or Best Design!
Excitement, enthusiasm, teamwork, sportsmanship, creativity and positive competition are what we are looking to achieve amongst our young Discovery Bay community!
Background
HLG Kart Race is now an annual event where kart racers fly down the ramp and race down to the finishing line with the hope of winning a trophy!
There are two categories available – Age group category, where karts are provided by HLG (7 year olds, 8 year olds, 9 year olds, 10 year olds, 11 year olds and 12 year olds) and the Freestyle category. The process of rebuilding, revamping and redesigning the HLG standard karts are already underway with our Engineering team from Milwaukee and we are getting ready for the big race next year!
The freestyle category is open for children AND adults who wish to build their own kart and race it against other homemade karts. Details of this are below.
Trophies
Trophies are given to the top 3 racers in each of the age categories as well as the fastest freestyler (in their own hand built kart). We also have 3 trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for Best Design.

We only have two rules for this freestyle category:

A- Minimum length between the front and rear axel: 36 inches
B- Must have a break system
