We started well Oli making some good runs in behind the USRC defence seen and found by Stu put us on top. Unfortunately their first attack/long free-kick we as a defence got caught out whether it was not tracking men or getting caught under the ball 1-0 in 5 minutes was not ideal. Credit to everyone we raised our game passing the ball around well. Matt equalised after showing good strength and poking it past the keeper. We went 2-1 up courtesy of Matt again, after good work in midfield from Hans and Pascal Matt rifled the ball into the top left hand corner!

On came Jonny, Scotty and Syd and it wasn’t long before all combined as Scotty’s turned majestically and ran at their backline, slipping in Syd who finished emphatically.

Half time we brought on Max, Rafa and Alessio. Unfortunately the tempo after the break was a little slow and we tried to force the play too much. We improved and with good play on the flanks Scotty was able to slot home putting us 4-1 up! On top we let our concentration go for 5 minutes conceding 2 in quick succession the first an excellent long strike which we should have closed down better and the second letting the ball bounce in the box and failing to clear. 4-3.

As we rolled the subs we re asserted our dominance and Matt struck a great free kick into the far corner. We soon made it 6-3 as Jonny played a one two off the post before slotting it home after good work down the left from Max and Matt.

Great performance from everyone! Was very impressed with everyone. We kept a good shape and passed the ball well. If anything, especially in the second half when we are so dominant we could keep the ball even more and create even better opportunities. Well done in defending corners. We could still do more on our own attacking corners but fantastic. I hope everyone felt they got enough game time everyone got at least a half.

Man of the match – on debut – Matt Z for his hat-trick and energy. Was difficult role I asked of him in attacking midfield tracking back while also pushing on to get up by Oli when we had the ball but he was outstanding today.
