DBFC had a strong 16 player squad for this match, with senior keeper Bradders stepping in to cover for Ricky, who was absent because of work commitments. Given that Nick Bradley was in the squad that meant a father and son combination was on the field. Also, with Zanskar being available this meant that DBFC had a solid midfield to cover for missing talisman Danny Loup.

Morse got the hearts beating with a pre-match warm up before Gaffer Gaz laid out the game strategy, which focused again on previous games success of keeping a high tempo and the regular rotation of the midfield players.

DBFC got off to a very fast start and within 5 minutes won a corner after Darius on the right received a pass from midfield and Kieran overlapped at 100 mph to the bar line but his attempted cross was blocked. He got up and sent in a good pacey corner for Tita to jump like a Harlem Globetrotter above the Goodfellas defence to power in a header. DBFC 1-0 up.

The second goal was not far behind on 10 minutes played, when high pressing by the DBFC midfield got the Goodfellas centre back in a panic and his attempted back pass to his keeper was underweight allowing lightning fast Krisna to nip in and shoot over the advancing keeper. DBFC 2-0.

DBFC then took their foot of the pedal with their defence sitting deep allowing Goodfellas to advance and built some confidence. However, it was DBFC that got the next goal on 35mins when Goodfellas lost possession while mounting a rare attack and DBFC broke with some nice passing through the midfield to Benji playing at number 10 who slotted the ball on through a flat Goodfellas back line for a well-timed Krisna run that left him one on one with the keeper. Krisna made no mistake after rounding the Goodfellas keeper to put DBFC 3-0 up.

At this point DBFC continued to be too clever at the back for their own good and some laid back, nonchalant passing resulted in a mistake that Goodfellas capitalized on. So half time was 3-1.

After some strong words from gaffer Gaz about the pit falls of amateur footballers trying champagne football along their own 18 yards’ box, the second half was complete DBFC dominance. The DBFC defence kept a high line allowing their midfield and attack to play all the football in the Goodfellas half and create chance after chance. However, there was only one of the many DBFC chances converted midway through the second half by Ryan, coming in from the right side to meet a fine through ball by Krisna and finish by drilling in a low shot past the Goodfellas keeper to just inside the far post. Final score DBFC 4-1 winners.

MOM: This was another great team effort where each player shone. However, it is Krisna for his brace of goals and a fine assist that gets the Gaffers shout

DOD: This is Kieran for having the ball taken from him outside the DBFC 18-yard box while messing around with fancy dribbling and leading to Goodfellas scoring. He did hold his hand up to apologise.
