DBFC 45s were on fire last night 5 June beating USRC 8-0 in a game that marked the end of Steve’s 7 seasons in charge and Baz Brown’s 50 something birthday. We had a stronger than normal line up with Nik, Will and Yin all managing to appear in the same midfield together for the first time this season. We put the game out of reach within 30 minutes with 4 quick goals. First a corner by OB was met with a header by Nik. Then a cross by Kieran M was met at the far post with a volley by Adam for an excellent goal. Number 3 involved the birthday boy with an assist to Kieran M for his first of 3. USRC were shell shocked at this point but created their first chance with a shot that was well saved by Newley. We immediately broke away and put Kieran M through for a 1 on 1 to make it 4-0. USRC continued to have chances from set pieces but their headers were off target. Kieran M notched his hattrick to make it 5-0 with still 10 minutes to HT. Needless to say, HT team talk was more relaxed than usual. We were playing simple football in all areas of the pitch and finishing everything that came our way. USRC were creating chances of their own but Newley and CBs Neil OL and Morse were holding firm. 2nd half was more of the same. Another excellent goal after 5 minutes – Patric at RB through to Ricardo at RW and his cross was met at the far post with a bullet header by Yin. Will got in on the act with a rare goal, a well struck shot from just inside the box. And then the grand finale, Baz making it 8 with chip over the GK from outside the area. An outstanding performance by everyone and well deserved beers in the USRC clubhouse.
