A great result for the Boys over top of the league team J-Leaguers, which saw DBFC return to the top of the table.
The match was played at 6pm out in the back-waters of Sai Kung so Boss-man Morse organised a coach to take the team from Central ferry pier and back again — great shout.
The game was intense from the off and DBFC held firm with a new Centre Back pairing of old man Morse and young boy (new signing) Olly Otten. The battle in midfield between Pascal and Shun Nakamura was epic. As usual, Jordon was causing no end of trouble for the J Leaguers defence and after 20 minutes it was JB that was taken down in front of goal for the Referee to award DBFC a penalty (arguably a fortunate call for DBFC). Jordon stepped up and blasted a low shot against the post that bounced wide and picked up by Darius, who made a mazy run back to the by-line and pulled back his cross for, whom else, Jordon to hammer in a goal!
DBFC maintained the high tempo to quickly close down a good J-Leaguers team whenever they got the ball. DBFC defence was a credit, playing with heart and passion. And at the other end DBFC had a number of decent chances with shots from just outside the box being blocked by a hard working J-Leaguers defence. Jamie Bone had the pick of the efforts on goal when he curled a shot from the edge of the 18 yard box towards the far top corner only to see the J-Leaguers’ keeper pull out a good save by getting a hand to it and see it carry over the bar. J-Leaguers had their chances in the first half a low cross in front of goal was cleared by a sliding tackle from Will, inches in front of the J-Leaguers’ attackers boot. Towards the end, when J-Leaguers were pressing for the equaliser, a scramble in the DBFC goal mouth was sorted by a great full length tackle by Morse. Stand in keeper Toni deservedly kept a clean sheet, with the help of his defence, with a display of solid handling any ball into his area and the pick of his game was a full length leap to punch the ball clear from a corner when 2 J-Leaguers players ready to head in.
This was a great game to watch and every player put in a full shift and worked very hard for the win.
A mention for Danny Loup who made it to the game, getting there just before kick-off, after rushing home from the airport to drop his boots. Also a mention of Kafi making it for the second half after waking late afternoon on his recovery from a late Friday night. He’ll be getting a DBFC alarm clock for Christmas.
A mention that top DBFC supporter (Danny H’s Dad) was at the game and was quick to point out that we have won all 4 games he’s been to this season.
The coach made it back to the pier bar and celebratory beers were well received. A few tequila fines were not so well received.
