DBFC 45s won their first trophy on Saturday 26 August in a 6 a side tournament with Legal League Over 45s teams Spartans, Revolution and KCC. This was held as part of an annual event hosted by KCC to commemorate one of their players who passed away in 2013. We had to work hard for our win with all 11 players rotating through 6 group games of 10 minutes each in very warm conditions. In the semi-final knock out phase we came up against KCC and won 1-0 thanks to an individual bit of skill from Rudi Dray. In the final we met Spartans who had previously beaten us in our two group games with them, mainly thanks to their talented ex Polish international. Fortunately we seemed to have fresher legs for the final due to our earlier rotations. We started with Bradders in goal, Macca and Steve in defence, Rudi and Yin in midfield, and Greg up front. We had a few sublime moments throughout the day but we won 1-0 with possibly the goal of the tournament: a diagonal ball by Steve from LB was met by Yin at RW who first time volleyed it into the penalty area to be met first time by Rudi. A great afternoon and now we need to win our remaining 2 league games to win the Over 45s league.
