Once again, Discovery Bay Vets players were invited to participate in the Andaman’s 7’s tournament hosted on the 21st and 22nd of November in Phuket.

A squad of 11 players has been selected to represent DBFC in the Masters category (over 35 years old) even if most of our players are well above this age.

For the 2015 vintage,  15 teams took part in the Masters tournament and teams were split in 3 groups of 5.

DBFC went unbeaten in the group stage collecting 1 win and 3 draws, one of them being against the talented Dubai team Charmant Vets who won 2014 tournament and will be crowned Cup champions again this year.

The top 3 teams of our group had the same number of points but DBFC finished third on goal difference and were then allocated a tough opposition for the Cup quarter finals.

Unfortunately, despite a great fight and an epic defence, DBFC was knocked out of the Cup conceding a goal at the last minute.

DBFC quest for silverware was not over as we were now competing for the Plate.

In semi-final, a special cameo appearance from ex-Man Utd superstar Peter Troy sealed the victory in extra-time against Hong Kong fellow side Boca Seniors.

The final left a sour taste of unfinished work when despite several opportunities, DBFC was defeated again by the smaller margin at the last minute.
