All the squad arrived on time at Kings Park and secured a section of the rugby pitch to get through a decent warm up. We started well scoring in the first 5 minutes; Pascal broke from midfield down the right and put in a superb cross that Scotty expertly bundled home at the back post of the USRC goal. Jordan went through the middle of USRC several times and was fouled repeatedly but amazingly the referee continually resisted booking a USRC player. Jordon’s frustration finally showed when he stupidly blocked a USRC quick free-kick to get himself in the book. However, straight after he was the released down the left only to be denied by a good low save by the USRC keeper.  A cross, from one of the many runs down our wings, broke from the USRC desperate defending to Jonny on the right side edge of the box that he superbly  volleyed  into the roof of the USRC net; fantastic goal. Then fluid passing across the DBFC defence;  Alessio at right back played it to Andy, who turned it back to Gianluca who immediately passed to Christian then out to Morse at left back, caught USRC napping as they hadn’t shifted quickly enough. This allowed Morse time to play a great ball through to Jordan who drove the ball across the face of the USRC goal for Matt to tap in – it was a great team goal to give us 3-0 lead. Jonny then latched onto a loose ball at the edge of the USRC goal area to put in a low shot that was too hot to handle, as it went straight through the USRC keeper; 4 – 0 and cruising just before half time!!!!! This lead to a little drop in concentration by DBFC because on the stroke of half time a goal kick from USRC went straight through Jamie H in midfield and caught the DBFC defence flat, which allowed the USRC full back, who had gambled with a venturous run, to go straight through on the DBFC goal and score. 4 – 1 was not a fair reflection of the first half domination by DBFC.

All the DBFC substitutes were used at or just after half time and we still dominated the game. Good work down the right by Rafa resulted in him delivering an excellent cross that Hans arrived onto with an open goal at his mercy only to somehow push his shot wide — the crowd went silent in disbelief. More and more chances went begging before Matt’s run into the USRC box resulted in him being taken down and awarded a penalty which he duly stepped up to slot home for a 5 -1 lead. The Brown family (dad Baz and baby boy Jordon) were a sensation up front up but while threatening didn’t manage to cement the partnership with a goal. Little was offered in attack by the USRC forwards, although their substitute centre forward was tricky and had to be watched.  USRC did manage a shot that hit the DBFC goal cross-bar but the game ended at 5 -1 with DBFC reflecting on the many missed chances that should have seen their score in to double figures. Nevertheless it was another great team performance and a great way to enter the Xmas period starting tomorrow with the DBFC Xmas bash.

To get things started in the jolly department all the team players (except those that stole away in Rafa’s car —- noticeably the legend Wanchai warrior Pascal) descended on the Pier bar for plenty of drink and conversation. Dirk’s leather coat, Gazza’s tweedy jacket and Scotty’s Val Doonican cardigan set the fashion trend, while comments on personal hygiene were cast to those that remained in their football strip for 3 hours after the game had finished (Matt and Christian).  A good time had by all with the tail-enders catching the 1:30 am ferry for a couple more in the plaza. A team warm up for the night time do at upper Duvet.

MOM. – Andy and Christian were very solid at the back but Jonny for his 2 goals the first a contender for goal of the season takes the cake

Dick of the day – Hans for missing an open goal and the trying to blame it on jet lag!
