DBFC continued their winning start to the season under the new management partnership of Scott and Morse.

DBFC fielded 7 players that did not play in the last game the choice of the starting lineup was always going to be a challenge. New boys Vince and Sean, first game of season for Thierry and Pascal, and back in after missing last week were Matt H, David and Scott.

It was obvious from kick-off that Corinthians (Cors) tactics were long kick up the field for their bigger lads and this saw DBFC give away a number of free kicks for Cors to launch into the box. It was from one of these free kicks that a Cors player got his head to the ball, goal bound, with David heading from the line straight back onto the penalty spot for another Cors player to head back into the net. It was a soft goal that was against the run of play. DBFC continued to press and Kafi got a goal straight from a corner, curling just inside at the far post with a couple of DBFC players there to head in if needed. It finished 1 – 1 at half time.

The DBFC team balance in the first half was a little off so it was changed around in the second half and dividends for this were soon seen. Kafi and Darius were creating havoc down the flanks and many chances should have been converted. Eventually, Kafi collected a through pass, coming in from the left and his shot from the edge of the 18 yard box curled in at the far post to give DBFC a deserved 2-1 lead. DBFC continued to pressure the Cors goal and on one occasion, when a shot was saved to come back out, then the next shot blocked to come back for the third shot to be definitely a goal, a Cors defender stopped it going in with his hand. The Cors player was red carded and up stepped Kafi to try for his hat trick but he missed it. The Cors keeper made a great save. However, soon after the penalty miss, Darius converted from further pressure on the Cors goal. There were many other fantastic chances and some to mention would be; Pascal getting a touch to a Darius low cross, at 2 yards out, to send it towards the inside of the far post only for Matt H to run through to tap it in and be ruled off-side. It was a bad referee call but Matt didn’t need to touch the ball as it was practically over the line going in. Another was Bryn missing a header from on the Cors line (he somehow headed it on the underside of the bar to spin back out off the line). Finally, Matt H having loads of time on the edge of the 18 yard box to put a shot in the far corner passed the Corrs keeper, only to miss cue wide.

A team bus, beer and music saw us back to the Pier Bar for many more drinks and the usual tequila shots as fines.
