DBFC 45s assembled a big squad of 16 to play the South China affiliated Fei Yeung on Saturday 13 January and came away with a 0-2 defeat. This was a big improvement on previous defeats against a team who have a number of players who are still active with South China. It was also a chance to say farewell to our loyal player Neil Mac who has now left for the UK, or to at least make sure he left. We had a very good first third against Fei Yeung although, as ever, the opposition had most of the possession. Fouad came close with a shot against the post and at the other end Bradders was in fine form. We went into the first break at 0-0. We brought on our 5 subs at the break and inevitably lost some of our rhythm but we kept a good shape and kept their chances to a minimum. Bradders somehow managed to keep out a shot from about 2 yards but eventually Fei Yeung scored a lucky goal in after a soft shot from outside the area was deflected off Morse. Again, we made another round of 5 subs for the final third. Fei Yeung seemed to be settling for a narrow win until an action packed final 5 minutes which saw Steve Woz go off injured after pulling up; followed by a second goal by Fei Yeung after getting in behind our left defence and crossing for a straightforward finish. And in the final seconds of the game, Fei Yeung had the ball in the net after a cross from RW was met with a far-post header, which even the Fei Yeung referee accepted as offside. As always a great test against some high-quality players and a good run out to start 2024.
