DBFC 45s came up against a strong Dynamics side at HKFC on Friday 16 February and lost 4-2 in an entertaining game. Dynamics are generally the strongest of the HKFC social teams and we therefore set up with a 4-5-1 , knowing that we would be out of possession for much of the time. Dynamics dominated the early play but we went 1-0 up after 10 minutes after Nik stroked the ball low to GK’s left from the edge of the area after a pass by Greg . HKFC’s Japanese player Shinji had a couple of opportunities to get HKFC back into the game but Newley kept him out. On 20 minutes guest Hitch floated a cross to the far post but Greg headed into the side netting. HKFC then scored twice in quick succession- first through the evergreen Anton Grabo with a right foot shot low to Newley’s left and then Shinji with a header from a cross from RW. We made 5 subs just before the half hour and managed to get to half time with Greg coming close just before the break. 10 minutes into the 2nd half Greg latched onto a weak back pass and scored to make it 2-2 . However HKFC retook the lead soon after with Shinji beating Newley with a left foot shot from close range. He had another chance soon after but lobbed the ball onto the crossbar. We made another 5 rotations at this stage and inevitably lost a bit of our shape. Mumu had our best chance to get us back into the game but his strong shot was saved well by GK . After 25 minutes HKFC made it 4-2 with another strong finish after a ball across the edge of the penalty area . It seemed that we had no way back but Hitch had a great chance to score after he met a cross from RW on the volley but GK tipped over the bar . However we were pretty much out of ammunition and Dynamics used their vast experience to see the game out. Despite the defeat we played well and gave Dynamics a good run for their money. Some really good individual performances but most importantly a great team spirit. Thanks to our guests Martin from USRC , Hitch from Corinthians and Mumu and friend ; and as ever thanks to Dynamics for their post match hospitality.
