DBFC 5 RBFC 2

On a decent but bobbly grass pitch in Ho Man Tin, DBFC suffered a setback when Travis wasn’t able to start after feeling a twinge it in his knee. Joost stepped in and DBFC started on top, Jordan Brown racing down the left and putting in a dangerous cross that we couldn’t quite finish. As the game settled Rula Bula had threatened down the flanks but had been stopped by a couple of robust tackles and good covering by Alessio. Unfortunately Rula took the lead striking a fantastic free-kick over the wall into the top corner. DBFC hit back immediately as a great long ball by Alessio saw Christian charge in from deep to nod past the keeper. 1-1. We created several chances the first Matt denied by a fantastic save the rebound making its way to Scotty who shot narrowly over from the edge of the box. Some more DBFC pressure saw their defender hoof a clearance 30 high back into his own box that their keeper caught and after an indignant scream from the manager in the side-line the ref generously awarded us an indirect free-kick. Matt too charge faking a pass to Sam but back heeled it to Jordan to slot home. 2-1. Half time.

Travis after the extra warm up time was able to play and he and Philippe came on at the break. It started scrappily and Rula started using their superior height to win all the first balls but DBFC coped well, Gianluca making one strong save low down. A soft free kick at the edge of the box was knocked to the side and well finished by Rula 2-2. A tactical switch saw Jordan go up front and he didn’t take long before he collected the ball just inside our half beating the CB for pace as he stormed into their half knocking it past the final covering CB and slotting home for what is probably the goal of DBFC s season so far. 3-2. Matt Zoeller back on and Joost now in the midfield DBFC held firm from Rula s attacks and countered with great effect. First, Jordan slipped in Matt who lifted it over the keeper. 4-2 before Pascal cleared into the channels for Jordan to run onto and slot home. 5-2. A few great ‘professional’ fouls from Pascal and David halted the only two counters we looked vulnerable from. Final score 5-2.

Man of the Match – Jordan Brown for his well taken hat-trick. Prague clearly did him some good.

Dick of the day: – Jordan Brown could have won it for a truly terrible corner (see Rakitic in El Clasico last night), however a joint award to Philippe and David for two of the most outrageous foul throws we have seen, if only they were on camera!

Fantastic result.
