Late last night we got the news that Robin Armstrong, one of the founders of Discovery Bay Football Club and instrumental in getting the DBFC Vets started, passed away in the early hours of Monday 13th November 2017 (UK time). Robin was, during his many years in Hong Kong, involved with many football clubs and football leagues. There will not be many football players (+25) in Hong Kong that didn’t know of Robin. He was DBFC through and through and loved his midweek football at the DBIS pitch, especially Thursday nights. He was a great footballer and like many of us older boys endured the frustrations of playing competitively as the body ages with a few beers and a laugh and Robin was the best at that; a top bloke, great company and fantastic at making people smile and laugh. Everyone at Discovery Bay Football Club and all those associated with football in Discovery Bay send his wife Bunty and his two kids Owen and Ava and Robin’s wider family the most sincere condolences.
