The second game of the season and a very changed squad from the one that turned out against Godfathers the week before. With this many changes we aimed to learn from the previous week, keep things tight early, and pack the midfield, opting for a 4-5-1 formation. Our new keeper Dom started in goal protected by Steve Woz at the back alongside Morse with Gary and Steve R on the left and right side respectively. The midfield three of Pascal, Neil and William were tasked with keeping the ball moving and stopping the runs coming through, Vaqas on the left and Kieran on the right were energetic in getting up and down and Scotty was tireless as usual with his running up front. We made a steady start with new faces and new positions taking some adjusting to which resulted in a scrappy first 10 minutes. Kennedy Town then scored two quick goals, one from a corner where we struggled to defend against some big players and the second when a ball broke loose in the box. Kennedy Town looked more organised but far from out of sight. After a few changes, including Ben and Amin making their debuts DB tightened things up and went into the break in better spirits. An inspiring half time speech from captain on the day, Neil, sent DB out with greater motivation and a quality strike from outside the box by Pascal quickly took the scores to 2-1. DB then looked the more likely to score as quality on the ball and better fitness began to show. Caught on the break though, DB gave away a dangerous free kick just outside the box. Another dangerous set piece saw the giant Kennedy Town defender rising highest and he headed in, giving Dom in goal no chance. Still DB fought on, wave after wave of attack led to a good goal by Amin. With less than 5 minutes left there was still hope, however the clock ran down and despite some good chances the lads ran out of time to draw the scores level.

MOM: Pascal, tireless work in midfield topped off with an excellent goal.

DOD: The webmaster’s choice goes to Scott Holmes.
